Living with a host family, I’ve gotten to try some new Georgian foods.  Here are some of my favorites:

Kompot: It’s just canned fruit, same as in America, but usually served as a drink.  Awesome!

Jami: Fruit preserved in honey or syrup–the figs are particularly good.

T’olma: Georgia’s variation of stuffed vegetables.  Spiced meat and rice in a cabbage leaf.

Bread with butter/margarine and adjika: tastes almost like Mexican food!  A partial cure for food-related homesickness.

Tsitsaka-Georgian pickled peppers.  Similar to the canned banana peppers in the US, but a little different.
